Water is Life
When Carole Lindstrom, the author of We Are Water Protectors, first head about what was happening at Standing Rock in 2016, she felt overwhelmed and helpless. She channeled those feelings into the a book teaching young people about the importance of water and how we must care for and protect it. This activity kit is a companion to that book.
This kit includes discussion questions and topics and suggests ways you can become an active participant and water protector.
The book and kit center Indigenous voices and ways of knowing, as well as highlighting their leadership in the climate movement. It provides a blueprint for how to acknowledge the feelings that come with the realization of what’s happening to the Earth to find our own place within the climate movement.
Carole is Anishinaabe, and a citizen of the Turtle Mountain Band of Ojibwe.
